Pepper

HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION

Pepper or Piper nigrum is a spice obtained from the berries of different species of pepper trees, plants of the Piperaceae family.

The cultivation of the pepper plant originates from the west coast of India, in the state of Kerala, and has spread to other countries in Southeast Asia, Madagascar.

In the Middle Ages, they were used as currency as they were rare. Pepper produces, depending on the stage of its harvest and the type of preparation, green, black, red, white or gray pepper. Madagascar has in its land its own pepper called Piper borbonense or Voatsiperifery.

PROPERTIES / VIRTUES

The proivre has stimulating and antiseptic virtues on the digestive and circulatory systems.

Pepper increases the secretion of pancreatic juice, which gives it a digestive action on carbohydrates and fats.

It even fights nausea, bloating, gas, lack of appetite and constipation.
