The Katrafay
The Katrafay is a tree from the arid subtropics of Madagascar including Tuléar, Majunga, Diego Suarez which can measure from 2 to 15 m. Its diameter can reach 1.5 m.
Its bark, spotted with green, orange colors, is gray to brownish in color. Its leaves measure 12-20 cm by 6-8 cm.
Katrafay was already known to Malagasy healers: the pulverized bark was applied to the forehead to calm headaches, and to fractures as an analgesic.
Katrafay bark infusion is used to relieve headaches and sore throats. In the bath, it relieves fatigue after hard efforts or wounds in women after childbirth.
